Russell appeared on ITV1’s early morning show, Daybreak, chatting to hosts Helen Fospero and Dan Lobb about the album ‘Anthems’ and then singing We Are The Champions.
He’d had to get an early start; he Tweeted a picture of the chilly-looking skyline
and commented “Its not normal doing vocal scales at 630am“.
Even just his ‘warm up’ a little later in the studio made a powerful impression as Gavin Ramjaun of the Daybreak team Tweeted, “Hearing
@russellthevoice warming up this morning is über impressive. He’s on @daybreak soon!”
There was a special extended chiming of Big Ben to signal the first day of the Olympic Games, after which Russell sang We Are The Champions and, in the final verse, was shown holding an Olympic torch.
You can Watch Again on ITVPlayer (subject to geographical limits). This is just Russell’s portion of the show rather than the whole programme that is also available separately for the week following the broadcast. [Russell’s bit was still available on 3rd March 2013]
After the show he posed as The Running Man with the torch
and with the show’s presenters Helen and Dan (and the torch!)
