One of Russell’s first live appearances after his second tumor operation.
The venue was Buile Hill Park, Salford, very much his ‘home turf’ and the atmosphere, as well as the weather, was superb.
Earlier in the year, Russell had been one of the judges on the BBC TV show ‘Last Choir Standing’ and had been most impressed with ACM Gospel Choir; so much so that he brought them along.
Here he is, getting the crowd going with ‘Volare’, although it seemed that most of the crowd to his right were less familiar with the chorus than the crowd to his left, and his final song of the night, ‘You Raise Me Up’.
