Russell was the star entertainer aboard the P&O cruise ship “Arcadia” when she sailed from Southampton on 3rd December for a three night mini-cruise around the English Channel.
The weather in the Channel turned rough and the vessel made straight for Le Havre where she stayed for the duration, only returning to Southampton on the 6th.
The weather did not prevent the shows going ahead in the safety of the harbour and the concerts were, judging by Twitter comments, well received, particularly Russell’s Bring Him Home..

Apparently, the theatre aboard Arcadia seats around 700 and with a passanger capacity of 2,000 there was some difficulty in ensuring that everyone who wanted to attend had an equal opportunity. We had seen a comment in one of the online cruise blogs to the effect that there would be a ticket system on this voyage but there wasn’t. While the few comments we’ve actually seen via Twitter were full of praise for the show, the same hasn’t been said of P&O’s anticipation of Russell’s popularity. There are also some comments in a similar vein on Cruise.co.uk Reviews. Russell comes out better than P&O.
Russell must have enjoyed it, though, as he Tweeted, “Back from the ocean wave !! I had an awesome time ! Three super concerts x” once he was home.
