Russell was the star of ‘A Magical Christmas Concert‘ at the Royal Festival Hall on London’s South Bank.
Before the performance, Rob had Tweeted a Video – a TweetVid or, as he put it, a VideoBlog (‘V’) showing preparations inside the hall.
The concert, sponsored by Huawei Technologies, was in aid of The Princes Trust.
Maestro Rob Emery led the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir in support of The Voice, and from the accounts and Tweets we’ve seen so far, it must have been absolutely FABULOUS.
Russell appeared in a stunning new dark grey suit which featured a red satin lined jacket and he completed the outfit with a red tie and hankie. This suit was of a special new design to allow him to sing without being constricted.
Here he is, singing La Mattinata
and Jill’s America
and no Russell show would be complete without Volare
He later changed into his lighter grey suit with black tie which he gave to one very lucky lady on the front row.
Here he is, minus tie, singing You’ll Never Walk Alone
and extracts from the Christmas Medley
Finally, here’s a montage of clips from throughout the concert.
Play List –
O Holy Night
Parla Piu Piano
Intermezzo
La Mattinata
Jill’s America
Volare (with a walkabout, of course)
Funiculi Funicula
Excerpts from the Nutcracker by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Pie Jesus – with the Tiffin Boys choir
Panis Angelicus
Ave Maria
Christmas medley
You’ll Never Walk Alone
Nessun Dorma
[Nessun Dorma encore]
Silent Night
Medley of carols ending with The Twelve Days Of Christmas with audience participation on stage!
Bring Him Home
Fireworks, snow and streamers brought the evening to a close with a fantastic atmosphere.
Russell at his absolute best… and what a wonderful start to the Christmas period.

There is a précis video by Sting Media on their website that gives some background to the work of The Prince’s Trust and a real flavour of the night’s entertainment. Russell almost gets barbecued by the footlights! There are some excellent, professional photos from Ian Miles on TheImageFile.com_________________________________________________________________
